Tally Scrapper!!!

Some of you may have noticed the button on my sidebar to a site called "TallyScrapper". It is a great on-line community where I have shared so many of my layouts, as well as made many cyber friends.

Well.... I made the design team for October - December!!! I am so excited, but a bit overwhelmed! The DT at Tally does more than layouts...we are "cheerleaders" for the site and are asked to get involved in all aspects of the site...not just posting layouts. I was already involved quite a bit at the site, so I didn't think it would be tough, but it still has been a bit overwhelming to me. And fun!!!




On October 15, the new monthly kit goes on sale. It is designed by a favorite at Tally (and at many other sites, I'm sure) named Staci Compher. You should check it out if you are a scrapper. They often sell out within hours...so don't delay! Start checking at about 1pm central time..




This was the kit that I received for Design Team. The layouts/projects in this post were done wtih product from the kit. It really is a great kit and I love how the Tally kits always mix new products with some older stuff in a great way!!

Soccer Pages

One thing I love about my local scrapbook store (Scrapbooks, Too!) is the great selection of theme stuff. Soccer, Disney, Music, etc... I don't always scrap with the theme (i.e. see my Disney pages), but on these Soccer pages I went by the book. Standard soccer product..paper and stickers. These all went together in under 20 minutes each...some closer to 10 minutes. They are not works of art, but they do capture the memories and pictures from the spring soccer season.
So I bring you...Fuller Park Soccer Club Rhinos, 7-8 year old league. Spring 2008!

Even more Disney

The first one deserves an explanation. I was calling this Cinderella's castle all morning. Then I found out it is Sleeping Beauty's castle. oops. I'm sure I had a few people around me snickering...

Disney Pages

I know I have a few Disney fans in my readership...so just for you... Here are the Disney pages I've finished so far. Many more to go, but this will give you a feel for them.

I am really enjoying scrapping Disney photos because the colors are so bright and there are such good stories with every page.

150 pages!

Well, I hit 150 scrapbook pages done for the year. My work is posted over at TallyScrapper...you can see them all there.



This is number 150. It is a cover page for my summer album. I already made 3 calendar pages (for June, July, and August) and plan to takes notes on those.

Layout a Day summary layout.

I did this calendar page layout to showcase the 31 layouts I did for the Layout a Day Challenge. This whole calendar layout with thumbnails was a common layout I saw on day 31 for many. (I did have the idea before I saw it... along with a million other people. So I guess it was te obvious extension here.)

This is not digital. I printed out the thumbnails and then cut them out, found some number stickers and cut them apart/combined them for the dates. Not much else here. Just putzy work, to good effect.

Forty Three pages since January 1

I decided to set a goal around number of scrapbook pages this year, and then keep track. I put a tracker at the bottom of my blog... you would need to scroll down to see it.

My goal is 300. I am so getting pages done quickly right now. Having photos organized is a big help, for sure.

Now the negatives? That's another mess.

Oh... and I wanted to share that I have used the end of my Hermafix Tabs!!! Why did I keep this puppy for so long? The Tombo monoadhesive I am using now is so much better. Really.

RIP

A not so random RAK

OK...my last post got me thinking. Those of you that I might actually see over the next month...post a reply with some favorite product line/color/style and I will put together a paper pack "RAK" for you. It won't be the latest and greatest stuff...but it will be nice. Oh...and I won't mail it...we'll have to arrange to meet. I'll be at TOO the entire weekend of June 22-24 where folks can come pick it up!

I think if you qualify for this not so random RAK, I will have your e-mail address. Please, don't be shy!

Some of you I can guess on what to gift to (Linda...need some more Doodlebug?). The others? I'll get to know a bit more about your style. And I'll still have 15" worth of paper to sell :-)

Which product do you have the most of? Why? Because you like it and horde it? Or don't like it anymore but have a ton leftover?

Patterned paper. I have enough to scrap every single picture I own on a one page spread and I would still have some leftover. No secret that I love pp. The insidious part about paper is that it's "only" 60 cents, or 90 cents. Can't beat that, can you? Of course, I have gone to the counter with a stack of items that are only "60 cents" and spent $50. And Scrapbooks Too will occasionally have a 40 or 50% off of all patterned paper. Then I spent $60 (and get a ginormous stack).

In the old days (before I admitted I had a problem) when I new line came out, I would go down the stack and buy TWO of every single sheet. Even that odd design sheet that seems to come out in every line. Whoa!!! Now I really limit to three or four sheets per line (except the Tres Jolie...had to go up to 10 on that one). Really.

Seriously though, aside from the "value" of pp, I just love it. I could seriously scrap with just cardstock, patterned paper and adhesive. I do use a lot of it...sometime 4 or 5 patterns on one page. I especially love the challenge of mixing PPs from various manufacturers. Here's a page I made yesterday with 3 types of Foofala and one 7Gypsies.



I am garage sale-ing tons of patterned paper the end of the month (a stack about 15 inches tall as I speak...will likely get taller) that I have to figure out how to divide and package. Suggestions on that are appreciated!

Found...Baby Stuff!

YES!!!



I knew the closet in which this stuff was housed. The scary closet. The one I haven't de-cluttered. Boxes of negatives. Boxes of memorabilia from my life and from Charlie's and for the girls and from my parents. Heritage photos. Geneology research. School papers. It's the closet I told my husband to save if we ever had a fire. (Like you could save a whole closet.)

I found the box I needed to "start" the baby books. Yes. I have made progress. I was able to work on the books without having the "cover page" done. Without ultrasound pictures or wrist bands or the hospital picture. Years ago I would have been paralyzed if I couldn't work in chronological order.

Old Paper

I have a scrapbooking challenge this month to find the oldest piece of scrapbook paper I have and scrap it. If it's just too ugly to scrap with, then I'm supposed to throw it away and use the next oldest.

I am 99% sure I found the oldest patterned paper in my stash.



Whaddya' think? Is that it? I'll bet YOU have some paper just like it in your stash. I DARE you to use it. It comes in 10" X 12". Maybe that will help you remember where it came from (if it doesn't haunt you every time you look at your first album already).


Oh, and I found these other "vintage" pieces. Many of these might look good in my baby album.

Rick Rack (or is that ricrac?) border inspired by Jenni Bowlin site from last month. (Emily Falconbridge layout, I believe)

Cosmo Cricket paper and punch outs (swirls and frame). Sweetwater letters. Creative Imaginations shaped patterned paper. Metal bookplate came in Jenni Bowlin kit last month. Not sure if it is Junkitz, or not. Heidi Swapp Journaling spot under the bookplate.

Love the Scallops. (See them everywhere? I didn't consciously do this, but just noted in this picture that in addition to the scallop feel of the ricrac, there are scallops on the bookplate, paper, frame and the swirls. No wonder it feels like a good layout. Some coherency there.) Love the nekkid baby pictures.

Theme one: Circles and curves

Circles and Curves were a big theme this weekend. Here's a few examples.


Here's a two page spread with Rusty Pickle's new "Chocolate Bunnies" line. Used the Cricut for the font on 1st page. Heidi Swapp rub-ons on the second.

A big curve one page layout. The idea came from Ali Edwards "Designing with Patterned Paper". Phoebe paper by BasicGrey. (Love this!!!) American Crafts Letter Rub-Ons.

A circle and lots of rub-ons. American Crafts brackets and swirls with Making Memories alphabets. The blue paper is Everyday Tango (I think) and the paper with dots and words is a Creative Imaginations paper (I think)


A frame from My Mind's Eye and Fancy Pants Rub-Ons. And another Circle. Everyday Tango and KI memories papers. Are you seeing the circle theme?


I think this is also "Everyday Tango" paper by My Mind's Eye. (I used every page from this collection that I had. It really is great to scrap with) With some sticker words from Minda's "leftovers" bin. Putting the circle and swirl together. An idea from a Memory Works catalog.

Seventy!!!

And the magic number is...70. Yes. Somehow I got 70 scrapbook pages done this weekend at a group crop up at CJs. And a lot of them were actually good.

The paper lines available these days are so beautiful they don't need a lot of reinforcement. I did all hand journaling and used stickers, rub-ons, or the Cricut for my titles. I only sewed on one page. I did some stamping and inking, but not a lot. I didn't touch my 3 boxes of ribbon.

So they were simple and went quickly.

And the weekend was perfect. Lots of scrapping. Naps and walks. Meals all planned and only had to "cook" once. Great company. I missed my family a bit, but it is also good to get a break from them. I'm looking forward to next year already. I wonder if I can get 70 more pages done before next year's weekend?

I will get around to posting some pictures of my favorites sometime this week.

Rub it on!

My bookclub book for March is on "Rub-ons". Jennifer McGuire's CK column in the March magazine was also about rub-ons. Between the two I was inspired to pull out my rub-ons and USE THEM.

I found most of the rub-ons in a drawer under my QuicKutz shelf. Mostly BasicGrey flourishes, but also some older rub-ons with words and phrases. Also some of the distressed look rub-ons. Also lots of flowers from various companies.

Then I remember that I had all my KI embellishments with my KI paper. I found some more rub-on flowers and alphabets there.

I likely have some rub-ons in my themed bins (i.e winter/Christmas, travel/summer/beach) and will leave them there.

I'm sure I also have some in my alphabet bins. I think I'll pull those out.

I know I have all my Making Memories and American Crafts alphabet rub-ons together.

Whew! That is a lot of rub-ons. And of course I bought more at the store the other day. Some beautiful Fancy Pants rub-ons with flourishes and hearts. Colored rub-ons... not just white or black.


I was inpsired by the Jenni Bowlin site to use an entire sheet of rub-on letters on a piece of paper and use that on a layout. I had this sheet of Autumn Leaves rub-on letters that was all the letters on one sheet, and they were really small. Like 20 point. I don't want to mess with all that. I did one word on the corner of the layout and then laid the rub-on sheet (with the missing letters) on a sheet of 5x7 patterned paper and covered the paper with letters. The rub-on sheet has plenty of letters left, but I feel like I utilized more than I would have with just rubbing on individual letters. And it turned out really cute. I'll have to get it posted later today.

I mean, if you have 40-50 sheets of rub-ons sitting around, it's a good idea to use them, eh?

Also...rub-ons don't add bulk... so they'll go great in those CM albums, eh?

My scrapping

Somehow my scrapping mojo has come back. This is a good thing since I am doing a retreat in a few weekends. I think it started Tuesday night when I got together with some friends and played with paint. It really uncorked the creative juices.

Here's a few I made for the store where I do samples. This is featuring yummy paper by Delish Designs.

Fruitcake

Here's my entry to the "Fruitcake" contest at Scrapbooks Too.


I didn't win, but that's ok. Most people put in a lot more work than just one 12x12 layout with a picture on it.

But I really do love this layout. (For Minda and Lisa...note that I covered the bird on the greenish paper. )

Almost Done...

Here's some recent pages I've done. They need some stitching, journaling, and something else. Hmmmm. Maybe paint? Something to make them look a little richer. The paper from DaisyD is yummy, but needs something more.

Cozy Jammies

I made this page that includes some fabric from an old pair of cozy pajamas (flannel)




It will go into my "Book of Me" when I finish it. I still need to do journaling. I have Monday off of work, so I plan to get a lot of scrapping done this weekend.

This is neat...

Have you seen the Quickutz storage system? It's called "Magpie" with the tagline " Organize your nest of bright, shiny objects". I moved my alphabets into this and I sure love how it looks.

Much nicer than all the blue binders.


But when I went to a crop on Friday night (which was really fun, considering how tired I was), I put two of the little tins into my tote and voila'! Four alphabets available without much fuss!





I am going to crop at Scrapbooks Too on Friday night January 19th. (Just so you all can sign up to join me!) and I'm sure a few alphabets will make it with me that night!
